Are you not responsible for outcomes to these people? Does your spouse expect things from you? What about your kids? Definitely your boss.

So why think of these people as anything other than customers? You might argue that you can’t relate to your wife like a client and I would agree. The stakes are much too high for a run of the mill client relationship.

Still, its worth understanding how to manage a client relationship. If a relationship that’s worth money is worth putting in effort, then a personal relationship meets that standard.

If you believe that the people you profess to care about are worth more than dollars, then its time to start acting like it.
